Give us some new powers not just augments please?

So it's not a Hint for a future Ring..
*shrug* I'm curious, too. It's obvious is she isn't considered disposable, though. If she can show up 3 times, she could for 4.

I was just putting it out there; shadow powers have been in demand for years, so an array might be in the plans.

Why is it so complicated to do? Most Powersets are mostly different in Aesthetics, they have more or less the same Abilities like a Shield, Weapon Buff, AoE, Supercharge Generator etc. Couldn’t they make 4-6 new Powersets, sell them on the Marketplace and include them in a Membership+ and then make a Power Array Augment out of them?
When Quantum, Munitions, Celestial, Rage, Atomic, Water was made, it was another team, it wasnt the same office of DCUO Devs, the work it is to make new powers as alot and the developers of dcuo are of their field work of expertise, had to pay another team to make new powers.
currently, as they do make semi powers (Iconics and Augments) is alot easier work.
its a small team and its alot of work, maybe semi powers are being done by another team

I got better.
Just an FYI - They aren't making new powersets because they just don't sell. We have 15 powersets in the game with 9 being DLC types. Out of those 9, only 3 (Rage, Light, Electricity) EVER showed complete success since they were introduced. With 1 (Light) being in and out depending on era the game was in. And 1 (Water) being only recently made successful after it was revamped where it was only popular with healing and prec DPS.

Making Power Array Augments (PAA) is a good compromise. It allows for variety of aesthetics for the players and it doesn't require rigorous balancing to not only fit into the other 15 powers in terms of damage, but to also be balanced for the role they get placed into. (Healer, Tank, Controller) Right now, we have 5 PAAs, with 3 of them being "New" themed powers. (White, Blue, Lobo)

The one thing about PAAs is, as much as it helped at least level the playing field, I do wish they would have done just new PAAs and not just copy out existing powers. OR if they were going to do existing powers, make new ones that can be added to the existing powerset as more options.

The way they are making powers currently is completely different to how they made them back in the day. They will never make a new powerset in the traditional sense. It will all just be augments now. Even the Blue lantern stuff, a lot of it is just re-used animations etc, the only difference is the effects... In which they already made for the episode anyway. Then they say "Hey... Lets give these to the players"

Powers now are just:
[The powers damage modifier] x 100% Might = damage.
Of course defense of whatever your attacking will come into play to reduce the damage etc etc.

Back in the day, power calculations had a float value in them and only took a %% of your might i believe
If you cast any power repeatedly other than the new iconics/water ones, you will see that the damage is not the same each time as compared too Aquatic Arsenals Projectiles which are the same each time (under the same scenarios for both powers).
That even works for weapons too.

Also, behind the scenes, especially with combo powers, you can see the seems breaking. The old system/method/technology they used is not responding well to the new stuff they use. Take a look at razers power battery and its interaction with combos.
Combos only work if you have no interruptions. Examples of interruptions will be:
- A CC effect
- Character being interrupted
- A skill being used between the combo
- Wrong input
...Now i were to guess Razers is being classed as a skill being used between the combos, breaking them.

...then you have to look at animations, effects, lighting (if the skill needs it), textures, shadows...
Its just not viable.

Power Array Augments are unfortunately the way forward... I just wish we had them in a different manner to what we got them in (basically they are artifacts). I dont like using Nth on them, but thats a me thing. If the system was unique and fresh that didnt require Nth, but instead maybe exobytes or something in game that does not effect the Nth market, then sure, i would be happier.

A nice way they could have implemented them is to tie them to feats maybe.
Quantum - "Complete 90% of feats in Origin Crisis to get the Quantum PAA"
Celestial - "Complete 90% of feats in Hand of Fate to get the Celestial PAA"
That would make feats worth running and shows accomplishment. Would also make people run older content.

Would I surprise you if I told you all power sets are the same reused animations with different visual effects? They haven't introduced new animations since the shield weapon. Heck, they removed a bunch during the Animation Normalization update.

oh i am well aware. You can visibly see which animations are new/old. The old are much smoother and less clunky, they fit the games style unlike the new... However, Water did include new animations as a whole, though not many, they were new. As did munitions, the power that came before it.

IIRC, Munitions and Water both just use the vfx so well, they look like new animations, but they aren't. But I would have to go back and look at them again. (Like rocket launcher was vfx using the pull out and aim animation.) I'm probably wrong.

I'm the guy who's been wanting/wishing for a Blue Lantern healer and a Wind troller power set, but at this point, power array augments are your best bet.
Yeah, the Blue Lantern Healer Power Set that should have appropriate interactions with other colors of power rings has been needed all along, really since the War of Light DLC that introduced Hard Light Power Sets in the first place. Sadly, the days when it could have been developed and put into the game came, and then they went. The Devs never even made the Serums Power Set that was announced quite a number of years ago, at the same time Water and Munitions were announced. That "lost power set" has been permanently scrapped. 🤷‍♂️

The serums one was announced, then they announced they cancelled it like a year or so later in favor of other things. If i remember rightly, this was around the time Advanced Mechanics were coming into play, so early 2015-16. This is also when they moved to 2 pieces of content a month format, so lots of work was going on and didnt have time for power set making.

It was only after they revised their content plan did they work on water, then release it 2 years later, roughly when they started actual true episodes again
