Gotham and Metropolis Day & Night Cycle

The “Discernible” which you spelt wrong Value it would add would be enriching the world of DCUO, breathing new life into a game released over a decade ago. It would show that a game as old as this one is keeping up with the times and making the world have more depth than it already does
Thanks. Wonder why spell check didn't red line that. Anyway....as far as the value of it 'enriching' the world, I doubt many would get the value out of it that you seem to think it would bring. There is nothing in the game that has anything to do with a day/night cycle, so having a physical display of a mechanic the game doesn't use...adds nothing to the overall game.

If you want to see your character in daylight...go to Metro...or Central City...or queue into any number of solo runs that are in daylight. If you want to see them in a night time environment...go to Gotham. It's really not that hard.

If there was any single feature of the game that relied on a day/night cycle...maybe. But there isn't and I doubt they will invent some NEW reason to have one just to make the feature make sense.

I hear Minecraft has day/night....maybe play that?

PS... you might want to use a comma, or even parenthesis in your opening volley. Spelling mistakes are not the only mistakes that can be made.
I'm not sure who the 'discernible which' is...or why she's the wrong value. ;)

Once again I am speaking specifically about base open world Gotham and Metropolis, not central city or anywhere else you and any other reply mentioned. Obviously I can experience Gotham in the evening within the Earth 3 Map but it isn’t the Full Open World Experience as Base Gotham is, also that is Earth 3 Gotham, not regular Gotham. Same thing Goes for Metropolis, I can see it in the semi nighttime in the Doomsday ep but once again not in its full open world glory so constant replies stating that I should go to other episodes to experience those areas at different times of the day genuinely makes no sense

No, I get that, but other than an ability to look at the same landscape/buildings in the daylight vs dark...or vice versa in Metro, what real benefit does it add to the game/users? I mean I get YOU want it and would find great benefit, but to the GAME? We don't have anything in game that relies on it being day or night, or noon vs 530PM. And even if you wanted to point to daily reset or reboot, daily reset has a few countdown timers you can use, and reboot has a countdown before hand....and as both are spread out across many timezones, we'd either all have to have our OWN timeclock to sync with our area of the world...or someone's noon would be someone else's 9PM so the day/night cycle wouldn't even be accurate.

They aren't going to add a major overhaul mechanic unless there is some real reason. Just seeing buildings in the daylight is NOT a reason. No matter how much 'glory' you think it would add. Most late game players aren't spending a lot of time in base metro/gotham outside of limited time reasons, like the current event or PVP Little Bo fanatics who aren't there for the scenery.

Maybe crank the brightness on your TV? Looks like daylight to me.;)

But as I said in the first place....good luck with that.

Adding a Day and Night Cycle would make for a more immersive and inclusive environment, bettering the experience for New Players starting DCUO. When you exit any Safe house as a New Player, your First Impression of the game would be this Dynamic world with an actual working Day and Night Cycle. This would Eliminate the One Dimensional aspect of both Gotham and Metropolis.

I’m once again sending praise to the amazing Men and Women Developers working on current day DCUO. Without you I would never feel this comfortable presenting these ideas I had for the game. With that being said I think you should consider adding a Day and Night Cycle. When you exit any Safe house as a New Player, your First Impression of the game would be this Dynamic world with an actual working Day and Night Cycle. You seem to be missing the point. You are talking about a cosmetic change. And while people do like cosmetics, that change likely won't bring in new players, it won't change the way players play current or older content (unless they are scared of the dark in Gotham). That much work would likely need to be tied to some FUNCTIONAL change...which this game doesn't have anything tied to day/night.

Now...if you came up with some idea we'd NEED a day/night cycle for...maybe. Personally I can't think of one for this game as most ow content is 'anytime' and instances which are also 'anytime'. Some bounties are on a timer, true....but they are hourly...not daily.

BTW...I play at night mostly....I stick to Gotham if I'm doing things in those 2 areas when possible...I'm very immersed. I'd be un-immersed if I was playing at 3AM and it was a sunny afternoon in world. Whatcha say to that? :ROFLMAO:

I will only add my 2 cents from the viewpoint of someone that's been reading DC Comics, and watching TV shows and movies based on those comics, for roughly 50 years, and playing video games based on them for more like 40 years: Gotham is in perpetual night, and Metropolis is in perpetual day, because that's how DC Comics wants it!

It's an artistic decision made many decades ago, based on the fact that those cities are, in some way, characters in the stories themselves. Never forget that DC Comics has the final say of approval on everything Daybreak Games does with and in this game. DC will insist on Gotham being a city seen at night, and Metropolis being a city seen in the daytime, whether any of us like it or not, and whether or not that's "realistic". These are superhero stories, so realism isn't always the point!

Now, OBVIOUSLY, and as others have already mentioned, exceptions were made for maps used in content for specific events, so we do have, in the game, a daytime version of Gotham on Earth 3, and a nighttime version of Metropolis. But that's going to be the extent of it, because DC Comics says so. And what DC Comics says, goes. 🤷‍♂️

So because you mostly frequent Gotham in game while in the real world it also is nighttime means that you’d rather always keep Gotham being night even though other players interact with Gotham in the daytime? You know what i’m glad you included this answer because it shows that you don’t care about the player base, only your individual experience with the game while i’m thinking about the experience for all the players. Obviously it would be a cosmetic change to both Gotham and Metropolis, what else would the literal addition of a day and night cycle be? You keep bringing that up as though cosmetic updates dont matter. If that was the case we wouldn’t have gotten updated human skins, the in game models wouldn’t have been upscaled, and powers like fire and water wouldn’t have gotten any revisions. This is a forum to give your idea to a game that you love to better the experience for old and new players, if you don’t have any ideas and your only response is that this is purely cosmetic then why not create your own post with something not cosmetic and wait for others to agree or in your case like on this post disagree. Also when i say day and night cycle i don’t mean that the game should follow our in world time, like how many games do not. I mean something similar to most open world games like gta, genshin impact, etc. it should probably be 15-30 minutes between each full sun rise and sun set, just incase thats what you were thinking i wanted to clarify

You seemed to miss the crying laughing emoji...but

And you are proving my point for me. You mention GTA and Genshin Impact having day/night cycles...both those games HAVE things that are tied specifically to day/night, like certain missions can only be run at night. Some NPCs only appear or can be interacted with in the day/night. DCUO does NOT have this. Other games like 7 Days to Die also depend on a day of the week...should we also have days of the week because your toon will look different on a Wed Vs a Saturday...like it's the weekend, so they will be in shorts and a T-Shirt? Apples and Oranges.

However as someone who is saying I'M only interested in something because it affects ME (joking or not), you should look at yourself. I don't know that anyone has ever mentioned that we should have a day/night cycle simply so they can see Gotham in day and Metro in night. And as far as cosmetic changes go, re-smoothing a skin or changing an NPC model is likely much less of an endeavor than setting up a day/night cycle (which will cycle 24-48 times a day according to you....just like the real world...such immersion).

And as I've said a few times now, but you seem to keep missing it....GOOD....LUCK....WITH....THAT. Never said it can't happen, just saying it likely won't because of the 0.001 return value and high dev cost/potential for issues. I've never even said it shouldn't happen, like my 'say so' means anything anyway. Feel free to keep saying the same thing over and over, or keep making my points for me, but I think I'll let this one go at this point. I can only talk to a wall for so long. And a final, 'good luck' for your idea.;)

BTW. I think I will make my own post. I think it will be titled "Why we should NOT add a Day/Night Cycle to the game"....but you probably wouldn't get that one either.

You’re right, you can only talk to a wall for so long until it becomes redundant (p.s, you’re the wall) 😭😭 What you’re stating is that if the only functionality to Gotham and Metropolis is that they both turn day and night without any corresponding missions or interactions then it is a useless addition to the game but I already stated the benefits of having a Day and Night cycle, you just don’t agree which is why you are attaching other features to my idea to have something to combat against it. Also you complaining about how the day and night cycle would activate 24-48 times a day which would take away the immersion is idiotic. Who in their right mind would want a day and night cycle to follow the exact hours of the day 😭😭😭 get a clue brother lmaoo. Anyways what I stated still stands, also i’ll be looking out for your meaningless post about a feature that isn’t in game
