Up-Votes Needed No Base not resolved

I originally said:
"I don't remember if I even started the mission to pick a base. I wasn't thinking about it until my character got past the story mode. I just did the BoP tower to get the volcano base and realized that early base intro mission isn't anywhere and I don't have a deed.
I've looked through my bank and mail and marketplace claims. It's not in hidden journal missions. Not sure where to go now"

I was told to talk to contacts that weren't there for me to talk to and then listed 'not a bug'. I still can't find any sign of contacts to talk to or ways to get the base.
I might know what happend. Now it's happened to another new character I started around the same time. I may have chosen a bad time in game development to ignore the base mission when it came up originally. now how it pops up is different and I had already long passed the point to trigger that contact to call, without setting up a base the old way. so the old way is gone and the new way won't trigger for these characters?

In the original thread, you also mentioned that, besides not getting the PDA message, you are also unable to purchase a deed through the Marketplace. That may just be because you haven't received the lair styles for completing the mission, but it may be important for the devs to know anyway.

Hope they can fix this for you. I really don't see why it was necessary to change how this and the HoL mission were delivered, anyway.

Opening a new thread isn't the way to handle it. Keep adding details to the existing thread if you believe this to be a gamewide bug.
Also, if you have not already, reach out to Customer Support, they should be able to talk you through it or correct it on that character:

Check your Warp menu from your Map to see if there is a base listed. If not, look in your Journal again, there should be one of these missions available to track. If not, check your missions on the Hidden tab in the Journal again.
  1. Hiding Out
  2. Homestead
  3. Home Sweet Home
  4. I Love Lamp
At various points you will receive a Deed or Theme in your Inventory (you can also look in your Bank/Shared Bank, but they cannot be deleted traded or sold). Again, if you can't find it, then Customer Support are the people to reach out to.

I have the same issue, as I stated it in the other thread that they listed it as not a bug. None of the missions you listed is in my journal either, and I'm level 30 now. I try to open the PDA as they said in the other thread, using the key mapped to toggle PDA, and for some reason it opens the last menu section I was in.

You'd be more successful if you record your screen and post it here.

Here's some screens. No mission, not in hidden, no contact, Marketplace cannot buy

I made a new character to see when that contact would call. I'm at 28 and no contact yet. When was it supposed to happen?

according to the dev that marked my previous thread on this exact issue as "Not A Bug", "It is no longer an auto granted mission. You have to Open your PDA and look at your mission contacts. Calculator or Oracle will be listed there and you Initiate the Call with them." Suuuuuuure...

edit: I tried the method to bring up the PDA on a completed character I made long ago, and it also does not bring up the PDA.

I've contacted support and told them all this, and they placed the missing mission into my journals for those characters. Still confused why it kept happening though, and if my account just won't ever trigger that mission again without help

I have run into the same issue. This is the first time I am playing on PC so I made a new character and spent the past week bringing her up to level 30. I completed all my mentor missions and and now upping CR. I even have the membership. I have yet to see the Base introduction missions anywhere. I am not allowed to buy a deed either. My new character is now at CR 460 and still nothing. I tried placing a ticket about it and have not heard a thing yet. I have looked through everything in the journal and I have nothing. I started another new character but haven't gotten that far as of yet but I see no reason to continue until this issue is resolved.

I made a new character just to see what would happen with a few things. The difference from previous character creations with the base mission was having to use the communicator (F1) to answer the call from Oracle, but I am assuming that's what you mean by PDA (it's not a term I am familiar with). I actually found I had 3 calls waiting for this new character because I have gotten used to ignoring the "call waiting" overlay at the bottom of my screen. With >30 characters it just means there's a thing it wants me to do now, and I don't want to do it until later. Anyway, sorry to digress, but the base mission did work for me once I answered the call.

I'm making a one more post on this in case anyone else runs into this issue, because I just finally got the call for a base on my most recent character and I think I know what is happening. I've made a few characters this month that didn't get the call and I had to contact support to force the mission into my journal. What's different this time is I completed the 2nd mission BEFORE reaching lvl 15. For years it's been my routine to collect all the metropolis and gotham briefings after the first mission, after which will get you to lvl 15. I think the new system wants you to do the 2nd mission immediately, teleport back, and complete it before hitting 15, so the base mission then triggers with the HoL intro.

Good share. If and when I design a fresh alt, I'll keep that in mind (unless they revamp the process again anyway). Sorry for your experience, but thank you very much!

That's a great insight! I'm replying just to keep the thread relevant so devs can take a look.

I'm wondering if that bug is the reason why we haven't gotten another Ultimate Recruitment event this year.

SIDE NOTE: PDA in this case means Personal Digital Assistant....basically a Palm Pilot(a stone age device from the early 2000s) or similar device where you get messages. As the game was from 2011, it made more sense then. Now I'd just say Iphone or cellphone if you wanted to be brand agnostic.

Much like the guy stealing 200 lb tube TVs around Gotham and Metro it's outdated tech due to the game's age.

OMG, Palm Pilots - never had one, but I did have an early Clie. They seemed high tech at the time, some people were still wedded to using Filofaxes. Yes, I interpreted the acronym all right, but I couldn't figure out why it was still being used in-game. Thanks.

Side-note: some of the base item styles in game show Truman Show levels of nostalgia. And what's with the back-breaking "luxurious chair" form? Makes my back hurt just seeing one of those turn up.

I'm pretty sure they use tube TVs because of the DCAU shows, as there are flat screen TVs at the safehouses as well. The representation of computers in the game also follow the same retro-futuristic dichotomy - it's either tubes or holograms, no in-between.

Nice share,

Actually I hade a leaguemate who had the issue he was certain not to have used the base themes and couldn't retrieve theme in his inventory or bank. THere might be an issue on the base creation which seems to appear randomly preventing players from creating their first base which leads in them not being able to claim or buy themes from market place.
