Purified Pages of Black, bugged?

Hello,

I used the opportunity during the current Double XP Week to level up PP.

I use a Weapon Buff with a 12 sec Cooldown, and I have four Shields.

Winter Ward, Hardlight Shield, Reflection and Shattered Restraints.

Weapon Buff gives 5 Sec immunity to Self Damage, Shields allegedly 12 sec.

My Rotation is the following: WB, then 1-2 Sec later Shield, after 12 sec Cooldown Wb again, then Shield …

I use the Cooldown Timer of my WB to know how much immunity I still have from the Shield, but sometimes, not always, before the Cooldown is at Zero, I already get the Damage, which doesn’t makes sense, since I activated the shield after the buff, so I should have 1-2 Sec immunity before getting self damage.

Did someone else noticed that too?

Did a shield get broken early?
Didn’t payed attention to it, if the Shield breaks, the immunity is gone too, regardless if the 12 Sec are over or not?

Edit: tested it in Trainingsroom, happened again, but the Sparring Targets don’t attack, so no Shield Penetration.

The protection from your Shields has a 15s Cooldown, but only a duration of 12s (i.e. if you pop another Shield within 15 seconds of the first one, it will do nothing). You should probably wait a second or so longer after using the Weapon buff again before using another Shield.

In the past I used the Accelerated Blessing Mod to cut Blessing's Cooldown to 16.2s - which meant I would just use the Shield, then the Weapon Buff at around the 3/4 mark of the Shield Cooldown, then Shield, as soon as it's off Cooldown, etc.

In that way, it dovetails perfectly.

Without the Accelerated Mod (or if you're using Life Shield, which doesn't have a Mod), there is around a second when you have neither active. This is by design. A burst Heal like Empowering Pulse, or a HoT like Beacon of Hope can negate that (or, in fact, Life Shield itself will do it when it expires) - in fact there's so much incidental Healing available in Builds these days either from, or to help proc, Razers that it's barely a problem anyway.

Yes, that must be the problem, thanks.

Do you know when the Cooldown should start? Should it start At the beginning so there is a 3 sec Gap or after the 12sec?

Your shield is probably breaking early to a DoT or something.
It was in Training Room. Activated one Shield after another, my Shield got some Damage Ticks, than the other Shield.

Bit if the Cooldown starts with the Start of the Immunity, this shouldn’t happen and I should only get three Ticks on my second Shield.

Artifact working as intended. Learn timings for Shield and Weapon Buff or use 2 Shields.

I use four Shields and Weapon Buff.
Shattered Restraints - Hardly can be called a Shield.
Reflection - Also very weak Shield, but stronger than Shattered Restraints.
Hardlight Shield - Has too long cooldown.
If you don't want to learn timings for receiving damage immunity, than you should use Winter Ward and Life Shield to absorb damage from Artifact. If you think it's not enough for you - add Immolation as 3rd Shield. Also would be nice to have some Healing Ability in your loadout.

Life Shield isnt available for me, I started playing again with a new Account around a Month ago, also thought that would fit in my Rotation, but for now I have to wait for another Power Array Augment or to a Reintroduction of the WLR. I use Clarion for Healing, I don’t have Problems with Healing, the Self Damage doesn’t hurts me, it just eats my Shields away.

Only if a bad Timing happens, when my Shields are getting eaten by the Self Damage and the Boss attacks me at the same time, then I’m sometimes in Trouble.

I use 1 weapon buff and 2 shields (immolation and life shield) when I run my PotB build. And if I'm staying back (avoiding room mechanics like orbitals, AoE pools and other crap) I can keep the immunity for the DoT up 100% of the time. And all I do is use my weapon buff off cooldown and then use the shields every 9 secs (because both of them have a 18sec cd).

I'm a Tank so I get some of the mechanical Damage, but you never get DoT from PP to your Shields? No grey Ticks?

I think so (never looked that closely tbh) but I also got razer on the build so the ticks are reduced. I think if you're seeing grey numbers and the shield is up with pages (chances are its one of the healer/troll shields) Because your shield that you pop is supposed to completely cancel the ticks from happening in the 1st place.

No, it’s mine. It also happens in the Training Room, I think the 15 sec Cooldown starts after the 12 Sec immunity, because if I activate another Shield to compensate, I still see big Grey ticks, around 4-5 of them until my Weapon Buff is ready again.

I for my Part would rather like to see my Health drain, then my Shields, because I can heal that up, but I can’t sew back my Shields.

Then you should stop mindlessly pushing Shields buttons... Once again: if you not follow timings - you not taking immunity to damage from artifact, so you see this gray numbers that absorbs by your active shield.

When you activate a Shield, the following things occur: -

The Immunity (12s) and the Cooldown (15s) start at the same time. A white Icon over your head tells you the immunity is active.
A large black Shield vortex forms around you which tells you that damage reflection is active (24s). Damage Reflection only affects external damage sources, not damage from the Pages.

When you activate a Weapon Buff, the following things occur: -

The Immunity (5s) starts. A white Icon over your head tells you the immunity is active.
Small black Buff vortices form around your hands (easy to miss with the native Powerset effects or Starfire effects active), which tells you that your Precision Buff from the Pages is active (14s).

If you do not have a white Icon over your head, you do not have Immunity. The Immunity from your Weapon Buff does not add to your immunity from your Shield, rather they will both run concurrently if you activate both.

If you are using the "apparently optimal" timing - Weapon Buff, then 5s later, Shield, but are then using your Weapon Buff again immediately it is off Cooldown, both Immunities will run out at the same time 5s later, while your Weapon Buff is on Cooldown for another 7s, and there are still 3s to go until the Shield Immunity Cooldown from Pages ends. If you're using a second Shield during this time, you will see (grey) Damage ticks, because it will not grant Immunity - since the Cooldown is still active - it will only mitigate the Damage.

Long story short, don't activate your Weapon Buff as soon as it is off Cooldown if you want permanent Immunity. Use it to bridge the gap between the first Shield Immunity expiring, and the Shield Immunity Cooldown expiring (or use your second Shield to mitigate the Damage, but not grant Immunity).

Note that yes, the timings are very tight, and you will not have your Weapon Buff active constantly for other considerations (e.g. Starfire, Native Powerset Precision Buff), unless you accept a period of taking / mitigating Damage (presumably soaked up by your second Shield?) You can't have your cake and eat it.

I don't know how to explain it any clearer than that. The Artifact is working exactly as designed.

On another note, does anybody know what the chains signify? I *believe* that the dark chains, followed by the large dark chains, followed by the purple ribbons indicate stack accumulation, but there's so much going on there during that period, that I'm unsure.

I also believe that the smaller Vortex that shows around your Chest signifies that you are at Max Stacks, but I don't see any indicator that your Stacks are going to be imminently cancelled (when you fall below 50% Health, or leave Combat, for instance).

Can anybody confirm, deny, or otherwise help with these observations?

I sometimes have these Turtle Chains and the Immunity Symbol above my Head at the same time.

But I don't get the Damage, like I do when I'm "in Combat" but in a safe Zone.
