Purified Pages of Black, bugged?

the defense buff is so massive you should be wanting to take self damage a few times before popping another shield. and if you have sp in resto along with red tornado, clarion, and razer. youll heal up in no time.

as an tank main i don't pay attention to self damage because i self heal and every tick is a buff. thats what i want. i only pop shield when health at half. if you run clarion you get two buffs with WB and can save a shield for sticky situations.

You still get the Buffs, even if you don't take Damage due to Immunity. It's just a hoop to jump through if you care about your Health Pool, or can't reliably keep it at 50%+ - as you say, Tanks rarely find that a problem, but DPS (especially when there is no Healer) are obligated to do *something* about the ticks, or lose their Buffs when they fall below 50% Health.

The OP was confused as to why they were still seeing Damage ticks, even when they were constantly activating Shields and the Weapon Buff - the short answer is because they weren't maintaining Immunity, due to the Immunity Cooldown.

Im a Ice Tank, so I have to rotate Shields. I profit mostly from the Restoration Buff, which makes the Shields stronger. I don’t know if I should risk it to take some Self Damage before I activate another Shield, because I don’t know how the Boss will Attack and if can handle both Damages without my Shield.

Overall I would say I benefit more from the Art than I get damaged, it’s just sometimes if the Art eats my Shield and the Boss attacks simultaneously, than I’m sometimes in Danger.

What is WB?

But shouldn’t the Immunity Gap be three seconds and after those three seconds the Immunity should be back with another Shield, for another 12 Sec?

It doesn't work like that. When you activate Shield you'll get: The Immunity for 12sec. and Cooldown(15sec.) which start at the same time. So, if you spam Shield after Shield, you get nothing for every Shield in your rotation before Cooldown for the Immunity ends. When the Immunity disappears, you must wait 3 sec. before activating another Shield if you want to gain the Immunity and not just absorb damage with your Shield... In this way you won't see gray numbers.

The gap is 3 seconds, yes, but Immunity is granted when you *use* a Shield Power after the Cooldown ends.

It won't automatically kick in just because you have a Shield *active* at that time.

The only way to completely avoid any Damage ticks is to use the Weapon Buff Immunity to cover the 3s gap between Shield Immunity and the Shield Immunity Cooldown. Doing anything else will result in some ticks.

I've explained this several ways now, with as much clarity as I can manage.

Ok, I thought as long I’m affected by a Shield, I’m getting 3 sec Damage and then Immunity again, if I’m still affected by the Shield.

Yeah, now I get it. I thought the Immunkty will come back after 3 Ticks, because my Shield is still active.

It sounds like the cooldown Great Architect mentioned is the culprit.

That being said, I've found that instead of focusing purely on keeping the self damage immunity uptime maximized, use a combination of the immunity and your shields to just absorb the self damage. If you have all or even most of the current OP gear your shields shouldn't break from the self damage. Hell, DPS gear gives enough resto that even without OP gear the stronger shields (ex. Life Shield) still shouldn't break.

I only need two Shields (and weapon buff as I am prec) to make it so that I'm almost never taking self damage and one of them is a pretty weak shield (Gadgets Distract). They're both 18s cooldowns and I pretty much just rotate them off cooldown. Even if I activate one too early to trigger the immunity (due to the cooldown mentioned above) it's still there to absorb the damage.

I really only take self damage if I'm doing mechanics/pickups, looking around my inventory to swap trinket stuff or just flat out not paying attention.

Edit: I'm talking about Pages at 200. Below that the self damage may very well break shields.

Currently I only have the Red Daughter Mask at Lvl 15 and no Elite Gear, Purified is at 160. I read that it should be atleast at 160, so I only used it when I got it to 160. I also think it should get way better at 200 because the Damage will be halfed and the Buff to make the Shields stronger will be higher.

Im also currently at around Lvl 420 on my Origin Augments (Dominance), so maxxing those out will also help.

But it is better manageable, I overlap my Shields, that helps.

I have this wolfpacked. My rage, fire and atomic can heal themselves. While my earth brick absorbs damage, I also deal enough damage with red tornado to make up for the heals. My ice is a pure tank and even with resto and dom maxed out, I'm typically at 50% hp without a healer.

At 10 stacks it's roughly 200k self damage. This art is not good for long drawn out fights without a healer. In instances without a healer, I usually see dps/trolls playing with 50% hp.

Be sure to complete the event and get the fire power array, then you won't have to worry about the immunity.

I use Clarion for Heals because Tornado needs Damage taken and the Sytem doesn’t counts damage to the Shield as Damage taken. But when I overlap my Shields I can stay most of the time on max Health or near max Health.

But isn’t the Fire Shield weak? I’m planning on getting the Life Shield from the White Lantern Ring, with 5 Shields I should be able to hold the immunity or absorb the self damage.

Immolation is weak? Really?!o_O It's stronger than Reflection and Shattered Restraints which you use...
I don't see how people are having a problem. On my PoB build on my fire DPS (Ranged build). I use 2 shields (Immolation and Life Shield) and the weapon buff and I barely if ever take damage from PoB.
Sure I don't proc Razer as often because I'm not taking as much dmg to heal myself, but thats another thing altogether. But I prefer the less risky play of DPS rather then getting so close to the boss I can count their polyps and give them a colonoscopy.

100% Correct, I use this shield on my DPS builds all the time (both of them) to get pick ups and hit cogs and everything else.

And in tank role, its amazing, it doesn't cancel dmg completely sure, but it mitigates damage to the point where some big hits are tickles and you just heal back the rest and I hope they NEVER EVER EVER NEVER EVER EVER EVER change it 100% absorption because that will ruin it and making tanking with fire worse, but that's another discussion.

Yes, one of the weaker ones. It’s stronger than Reflection, but not very much and Shattered Restraints is primarily a Group Breakout, so I need that.

I have this List, and I think the Nth Metal for the Power Array is better invested in the White Lantern Ring than the Fire Augment.

This is true for pretty much every build including if you're a tank main. Go the White Lantern Ring 1st. After that go for the fire augment if you're a tank. BUT wait until they fix the augment and the fact that its not giving the buff from Fire soul. Because then it'll benefit your tank side. I mean immolation will already be amazing for the other tanks out there.

It’s not all the time just sometimes I get the big grey ticks. It’s manageable most of the time, just annoying to see half a Shield going away.

Yes, I’m a Tank. That’s my Plan for now, but the Lobo Array is also coming, I want to wait that out, to see what Abilities it will have. Could be another Shield or maybe some Damage reducing Abilities based on his Toughness.

Any damage you do heals you with Tornado - not just the burst you get from being hit hard. So if you have Clarion and Tornado, your Weapon Attacks will heal you twice.

Letting loose with Omega with Tornado Equipped can heal you from 1% to full instantly on a large enough group of targets, but that's Battle Tank territory, really, and is as risky as Absorb Heat, what with Omega's current bugginess.
