I feel like a part of this challenge stems from the content being designed during a different era. [...]

Yes. In an era, when Elite content was designed for skilled players. These days players, who used to struggle in easiest instances, got their 5 meta artifacts, 2 power trays, overpowered Water powers, iconics and augments, they'd done some AA tapping on sparring targets, looked at the numbers and decided they must be elites now. But - of course - the moment a mechanic pops up, that requires anything other than mindless "tank and spank" - even something as simple as a roll, or blocking a skull - they fail miserably and can't figure out why.

If you ask me - it's kind of cruel of the devs to make casual players overpowered, create p*ss-easy new content, but also bring back old content, that immediately puts them back in their place... Lol.

I mean honestly, even if they're easy mechanics for elite players, having mechanics cause a wipe when you're not paying attention can be nothing but a good thing.

I think you're missing the point. It's not that people don't know what to do. They actively ignore everything, including chat.

If there's a cog, DPS be like "that's not my job, I need burn the boss" (even when the boss isn't taking damage and they don't realize it).
If there's a skull/shield, DPS be like "I won't block nor move, the healer to do shield/heal me" (even if the healer can only spawn 4 shields in raids).
If the instance notification says they must go in as a role when they queued for both, they be like "I'm better as a DPS, so I should go in as DPS anyway"

Lately, I've been in instances where players queue as any/damage and play as healers when there's already a healer (usually me). All weaker than me, and they won't stop popping theirs shields over mine, messing with my rotation big time.

Players (especially new ones) think that everything in the game is a suggestion, not a rule. DPS think supporting roles are there to serve them. Some players would rather die 1000x and get picked 1000x than blocking Carol Ferris or running away from Zoom. And don't let me get started on people hitting Wonder Women when they're blocking.

I think the lack of group instance tutorials is what makes everything worse. People don't learn how to play their roles properly, they learn how to adhere to the game's culture at best and having the most ineffective loadouts at worst because the game assumes people know in what aspects they should invest in. And the game's culture sucks because it's shaped by players who are incredibly entitled and elitists (as in thinking you got to have everything maxed out and/or have certain artifacts and allies to run elite content and reject players who don't meet that criteria).
Above all, I think that people forgot to activate their brains. When there are mechanics to execute in the instances, I have never seen an MMO where people are as stupid as in DCUO.

There are mechanics to do, no one will try to do it, even worse sometimes when you hit a boss, the damage will be 1,1,1 repeatedly, no one starts thinking "why, what is there to do?" I’ve never seen such stupid players as here...

BumblingB

I got better.
Burn is too good. Bombs are on a health based spawn. If you burn him too fast it will cause the timer to go to the next one and you can't activate the previous one. It's a battle of slow the burn or wipe.

Also, yes some bombs timers do get messed up.

I just run with league and only league. I used to do casual version when this was new and got good carrying the team in the puzzle part, but not worth it now. LoL

I always have plenty of time to disarm 2 bombs per round. You need to be in the area when they spawn and the first bomb spawned is always a decoy. It helps if the tank keeps the boss in the middle so when the bombs appear, the circle is more centered around the map.
I can get two when I equip a speed ring. I haven’t tried but using zoom passive could also do it. But normal acro or flight? Ain’t happenin’

I feel like a part of this challenge stems from the content being designed during a different era. When I say that, what I mean is that players stood at range; now all the players are up in the bosses face doing melee and that can result in the bomb ring spawning some distance behind you making it slightly more difficult to reach if you're not prepared.

That said, the text warning comes up first, so you do have time to register that, look for the bomb ring and roll away towards it and you should be going for the closest bomb to your position, not trying to get across the room, it helps to stand in a position where you've predetermined what you plan to do and where you plan to go during that mechanic.

That said flight and acro are not really at a disadvantage, given the overall size of this room, if you're doing what I've explained above, reaching a bomb should be done with ease by simply rolling with tumbling master (if that isn't your foot mod, then it probably should be in elite content).
As if that wasn’t bad enough, the feat for everybody getting the right symbol within so many seconds in RWe 2nd boss was only doable with SS movement or EXTREMELY lucky guessing/RNG. It might be doable with acro or flight now with Zoom ally passive. But back then you either had to be SS, have the SS ring from Anniversary or use bolt colas.

I mean to be fair, people can still craft bolt colas, ask yourself though how many players in game, even know about them.

The only cog they will hit is during the turret part in the Doom alert and kill everyone

Egg zactly. It's just you, me and my fellow brothers and sisters of the secret underground shadow consortium of veteran flight and acro tanks.

Besides, as I'm sure you recall, my above post was only the 2nd most F'd up thing about that feat. You also had/have no way of knowing if it is failed unless its failed BADLY. But if your ever really close, you had to make a choice to either proceed with crossed fingers and clutched rosaries or wipe and try again based off of either complete guesswork or a superhuman ability to track and calculate fractions of a second in real time.

Of course, if you proceed and fail, you have to run 2/3 of one of the five longest alerts in the game before you can try again.

I don’t understand how it can still be so bad, we barely have time to reach the bombs, even worse, either it’s a bug or there are some that are wrong, the timer doesn’t even allow time to go on another one, but there is an EXTREMELY ANNOYING thing about this kind of stress. DCUO IS TOO DESIGNED FOR SUPER-SPEED and it’s extremely painful and discriminatory; it’s high time that this dev mentality evolves.

People on DCUO are already not very smart when it comes to executing a mechanic, but such gameplay discrimination makes things even worse.

Another problem encountered. There is the indication to activate the bomb, but no action occurs and if I press the button, and yes, I am 1000% sure to press the correct one, by the way, this is not the first time this has happened. He sometimes seems to have a problem recognizing the action.
If your Tank isn't tanking in the middle, and if the team isn't well spread out round the circle, and if they ignore the bombs when there's text on the screen telling them what to do, and if they leave their position to chase Manta or decide they're melee-ing him instead of ranged, you're screwed.

It's Elite. If you're wiping over and over, because of actions you, personally, took or did not take, perhaps consider whether you're ready to be there.

In most cases, it's often down to the Tank or Healer to call a halt, and refuse to proceed until everyone is clear on the mechanics. Just shouting "BOMBS!" all the time does nothing if people are missing the point, and explaining that you stay put, no matter what, even if it falls on deaf ears, gives you the opportunity to explain "that's why you stay put" after the next wipe.

One of the most interesting and enlightening things that was ever said to me in-game was "Elite+ is a state of mind, not just a step up from Elite. If you don't have that state of mind, you're not ready for it." - and the same goes for the more challenging Elite Content.

E+ is going to be a ragequit festival, and I'm looking forward to it.

You need like 6 or 7 bombs to not insta kill everyone (also need to heal spam healz).

Bombs will spawn and will have enough time to get in position (exacly on the mine) before the counter comes in.

As some1 said, if some1 dies, stop burn and pick up.

If some1 dies on bomb disarm, prob if stop defusing to pick up its a wipe..

Not that hard. I always take at least 1. Sometimes i can get 2.

People struggle with this, not that hard.

I tried tanking, I tried dps and mic'd up to explain how it works and not to worry about dps'n and pay attention to the tells and what not. Its like they dont wanna listen. So I tried about 11 runs in total, I had 1 successful run out of those.

So im just not bothering Queuing up for it. I get that when I Q up im pretty much gambling the group im gonna be in. But it shouldn't be this bad that we cant even pass the first boss, dont even get me started on the tanks. I honestly haven't been thia frustrated with a group. Like I said, I tried speaking up, even texted, but oh well. Om not really too bothered by not able to run it randomly.

As I said, refusing to even enter the room as Tank or Healer until people have acknowledged what I've written in the chat is sometimes the only way.

On EU, a significant number of people don't have English as their first language, but I speak French and German just well enough to be able to communicate - but the Spanish, Italians, and others are on their own, unfortunately :(.

The same problem persists in RWe where people will chase Zoom all round the room, and not be in position to close the Speed Force Portals.

It's one of those situations in the game where nothing short of education is going to make any difference - so insist on taking the time to do that, if you are in a position to do so. Make it plain that you're not even entering the room until you've explained the mechs, and people have acknowledged that they understand.

People don't care about healers anymore in US. As healer, I used be able to force people into cooperation by saying "if we wipe again, I'm leaving"; I used to wait outside the room if there were people left behind - the last time I did that was in Power Core, 4 players started the Avatar, 1 troll and 3 dps. I let the portal fade and waited with the people outside. They were able to finish the instances because we're all strong AF for Tier 1. Not only, that but it seems like everybody's a healer now because water is the new meta. People don't have a hard time finding healers anymore.

And don't let me get started on telling people to stay together in Hall of Hades and Labyrinth and people just ignoring me, ruining everything for themselves and leaving like they're running away from their own stupidity. Only tanks have some leverage now.

I skip this as it’s too complex for players. It is a simple mech, but nah. What’s so hard about boss in middle, and everyone else forms a circle to get 7 bombs? And to pay attention to skulls and all that? Oh yeah, nvm.

I generally have some in my inventory, even though I'll never probably use them again since getting the speedster ring.

They were super useful before that ring came out, not as much now, except for those needing the speed option during the 11 months between Anniversary events. And thats just for those who are new in those 11 months, who also are flight/acro and at a point in the game where the swap option becomes critical.

Also....journeyman boots are easily available in Dr Fate...not an RNG 'may never drop' option in the vault. (which I also carry still, for nostalgia).

Or do them in Prime Battleground and Power Core and ruining feats because of that. That drives me crazy fr
My favorite thing about the 'will they or wont they' cog dilemma is if a cog NEEDS to be turned...you can bet that most won't turn them. If a cog should NOT be turned, you'll have 7 other people racing to be the first to turn them every time. Sometimes it's the same people BTW.

Just go walk to where the bombs will be, the second you see the "Break the Chain Reaction" warning. Stand next to it as it spawns, and then immediately hold the button. The only reason I've missed a bomb is if I'm dead.

That said, some people are saying they get two. I have no idea how they're doing that.
